Tasting Notes: The Dark Horse Double Down Red Blend is a full bodied red wine with glorious aromas of fig and blueberry jam that dance together with dark chocolate, molasses, and hints of blackberry. A rich mouthfeel gives way to intense fruit concentration, a little heat, and lingering toasted oak.
Viticulture Notes: Grapes for our Double Down Red Blend are sourced from select vineyards in California’s Lodi region. The harvest produced slightly lower yields after experiencing temperature variations. The grapes show beautiful intense color and structure and complex flavor characteristics.
Winemaking Notes: We chose to harvest the grapes for our red blend during the cool morning hours. Each lot is kept separate throughout the winemaking process and then brought them together during the blending process. After fermentation, the wines are aged in stainless steel tanks on a combination of French and American oaks to drive complexity and a rich mouthfeel.
